Eyes Of Love

The Man Who Saw God Face To Face

Introduction
         One day, somebody came to my office, and said, “Are the man who saw God face to face?”
         “Yes,” I said.
         “Tell me what you saw,” he continued, “so that I would believe you. I want to know and confirm that you really saw God face to face.” I did not know what to say to him, because I have seen God on many occasions and in different manifestations. I did not know where to start. After a while, I said, “If you see God face to face, His eyes of love would amaze you.”
         “Y--e--s!” the man exclaimed. “You actually saw God face to face. I know that what you are saying is true because myself have seen Him. On that day I saw Him, He refused to look at me. Until the blood of Jesus dropped down from heaven. Then God looked at me, into my eyes.”

His Very Nature Is Love
God is Love, Loving and Beloved.
His very nature is love.
His ways are full of loving-kindness.
His judgments are always preceded by tender mercies.
And He delights greatly form the love His children has for Him.
Even, He prefers Love of God to the fear of God,
For fear only breeds more fears.

In the scriptures, God describes the greatness of His love, kindness and mercy.

23 Thus says the LORD:
"Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Let not the mighty man glory in his might,
Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;
24 But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the LORD, exercising loving-kindness,
judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight," says the LORD.
Jeremiah 9:23-24

In his songs of praises, Moses described Israel as the apple of God’s eyes. God used Israel to demonstrate to the world His love for humanity.

He kept him as the apple of His eye.
Deuteronomy 32:10

Prophet Zechariah confirms this, saying,

8 For thus says the LORD of hosts: "He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. 9 For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me. Zechariah 2:8-9

Zechariah also described God’s love for His people, saying,

10 "Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion! For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst," says the LORD. 11 "Many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. 12 And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem. 13 Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD, for He is aroused from His holy habitation!" Zechariah 2:10-13

David, the psalmist, prayed God to keep him as the apple of God’s eyes, saying,

6 I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God;
Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.
7 Show Your marvelous loving-kindness by Your right hand,
O You who save those who trust in You
From those who rise up against them.
8 Keep me as the apple of Your eye;
Hide me under the shadow of Your wings,
9 From the wicked who oppress me,
From my deadly enemies who surround me.
Psalms 17:6-9

And God answered his prayer in Psalm 91:

14 "Because he has set his love upon Me,
therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation."
Psalms 91:14-16

When God looks at any of His children, He looks at the person with undivided attention. He would look at you as if you are the only begotten child of His. Such is the greatness and depth of God’s love for His people.

He made the same facts about Himself known when He appeared before Moses, saying,

5 Now the LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. 6 And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, 7 keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation." Exodus 34:5-7
